Works great with the early-2015 MacBook Pro!

I have a complex desk setup with three laptops on a KVM switch. My main is still the 2015 MBP with Thunderbolt 2 ports. I just got the Apple TB2 to TB3 adapter and, ¡voilà! The dock works like it was made for the MacBook. You will still need to use the Apple power supply to charger and power your older MacBook.I have also checked, and this dock will also connect, charge and power a Touchbar MBP over Thunderbolt 3.

I cant figure out why this dock is so affordable!

This dock is amazing with my M1 macbook. I read a painful amount of information on USB-C type connector devices. Many of these things are 'compatible'--not actually thunderbolt. You would use one port for charging, and the other for (not) thunderbolt, thus losing the potential for thunderbolt speed. This device is a dock that replaces your power adapter, has 4 USB-A ports and none of them are USB-2.Has a kensington lock cable includedOverall, this device made me happy to replace my macbookpro that was loaded with ports. I was leery about having only 2 ports. (two ports is actually worse than you can imagine. seriously hideous.)Why would you hate this dock? You can't close the lid for security reasons. It directly supports displayport, (not HDMI) --which is working greatApparently HDMI via a dongle has been a problem for some peopleCertainly NOT portable what so ever. it is a docking station.possibly the number of displays---but i dont know enough to have an opinion (do research if you are concerned)No card reader without another dongle (it wasnt important to me)

USB-c Charge not supported for MacBook Pro M1 model

Overall it's a good product and it does the job to lock the Macbook and as a dock station. However, the most important task failed when using the provided USB-C cable to charge the machine. It always shown plugged in but battery is not charging even remaining is lower than 50%

An interesting dock solution that really makes the word “dock” live up to its function.

This is a very interesting dock solution that really makes the word “dock” live up to its function. The laptop truly does “dock” to the unit, and then you have all of your connections on the back. It gives you just about everything you could need in a dock, and it is built so very well. At first, you may think it is a HUGE dock for a laptop, but being that it is a full security station as well, the size makes it look pretty compact when bolted to a surface. It’s….expensive! We had to base our decisions based on commercial/enterprise usage since the average consumer wouldn’t have a clue on how they would make use of something like this unless they leave their laptop around a lot, but even then they would most likely opt for a normal wire lock. However, when it comes to professional use of something like this, it can be incredibly handy. No codes to remember, and no need for multiple keys lying all over. Not only that, but you are never limited to ONE key since you can assign any K-Fob to a unit before locking it. A very interesting unit indeed. Again, a bit expensive. Even for business-use, if you have a need for a ton of them (ie, cyber café), that order is going to get pretty expensive, really quick. You better match them to some pretty expensive laptop to get your full value out of them.**If you have found our review helpful, please vote it as helpful below so I know. Compatible with thunderbolt devices but not USB C

Just wanted to help people that are dealing with the whole USB C and Thunderbolt confusion.Easy way to remember. Thunderbolt output (ie computer) to USB C device (monitor, etc.) works (TB-->USBC). USB C output to thunderbolt does NOT work (USBC-->TB).I bought this as it was the cheapest thunderbolt dock that I could find. My computer (Dell Inspiron 13 7378) only has one USB C port and I wanted to be able to connect my ASUS ZenScreen 15.6" 1080P Portable Monitor (MB16AC). I could just plug it into the USB C port but I'm using the port with a hub. I know I could just buy a USB type A hub but I wanted a challenge ;-).I did test the dock with my 2011 Macbook Air, which has Thunderbolt 1 (Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt 3 adapter) to the same monitor via the dock and it worked perfectly. So as long as the device connecting to the dock has a Thunderbolt controller (not USB C) this should work.

An expensive USB hub that doesn't really work - No video or next work

Connect the display port to monitor, ethernet cable, and usb mouse. Only the usb mouse works and it seems to charge the laptop. I have tried a different thunderbolt 3 cable and is same issue. I know monitor and ethernet works because I just swapped out my dell docking station for testing.I have tried both Dell 2021 XPS and Latitude 5500.My Latitude 5411 does a little better by connecting to the Ethernet. However, the mouse doesn't work. Had to unplug and plug into another port for it to start working.I have $18 USB C hub that does not have any issues. This is going back for a refund. Hope I can get shipping refunded.

Dang Displayport issues

This thing was great...except for when you wanted to hook up more than one monitor. Using a usb-c to HDMI adapter for my first external monitor was fine there was no issues. The issue came when I tried using the DisplayPort connector that this thing uses. I couldn't get ANY DisplayPort to HDMI adapters to work with it. I know the port works because i hooked up a monitor from another machine that had display port on it and it worked so-so (you HAVE to reboot before it would recognize the new monitor which is annoying). Kensington wanted me to purchase their high dollar DisplayPort to HDMI converter but that adds around fifty bucks and the only other solution is to buy a whole new monitor for this system....No thanks. Sorry folks i'll return it and get something else that doesn't need me to spend an arm, leg, and a bunch of time to get working.
