Tragic Brilliance - A Masterpiece of Storytelling

Spectacular story told in the riveting context of a global war. This is probably the best mini-series I've ever watched. Mostly following the script of Einstein's brilliant and tragic life, the viewer is invited into the messy business of being a genius. Driven by an imaginative mind, a hunger for meaning and a "the-grass-is-always-greener" soul mate, Einstein's brilliance and relational dysfunctions are laid bare. In the creative realm of this beautiful-told story, one grows to love and dislike a man who changed our world forever.

Stunning, Exciting, Honest Potrayal

I have watched this entire series, 10 episodes, twice. It is simply excellent. For me there is sort of a big difference between the "young" Einstein and the "old." There was so much excitement with the "young" Einstein as he was working through his Special and General Theory of Relativity (I have watched several episodes between #1 and #7 several times just for the thrill of it all), but with the old Einstein the scientific excitement ends and you have nothing but struggles with how the world will use the science he discovered, and then even his deep disgust with Quantum theory -- all just pain and heartrache.I was really shocked to see what a bumbling idiot Einstein was with his personal relationships--ruined almost all of them, and was surprised that Einstein was depicted this way. This series did not idolize Einstein and really presented a man who was a BIG personal mess in this regards--that really surprised me a lot. I am assuming that it is factual and true to history, but I never read any approved biography of him to be sure. But it actually makes a lot of sense--most people who are super in something usually have very messed up personal lives. But I was surprised at how greatly he messed things up.The camera work is stunning, so too the music, the acting--TOP notch! Some scenes are just unforgetable.Such great skill and talent in these things.I was also greatly surprised at the FBI's (Hoover's) hatred of (older) Einstein.I strongly suggest to watch a few YouTube videos on what the theory of Special and General relativity is. There are tons of them on YouTube that are easy to understand. When you have even a simple understanding of what Spacetime is, you will understand and appreciate just what Einstein discovered, and how important he is, and how SO MUCH of today's modern age is based on what Einstein gave to this world (like GPS--which works only because atomic clocks on GPS satellites are adjusted per both Special and General Relativity). It will enhance the excitement for you of the "young" Einstein section of this excellent series. And all this Theory of Relativirty stuff was first proven by a total solar eclipse (of 1919) which we just saw here in America (August 21), so to watch this series knowing I was going to see the very same thing that proved Einstein right, the timing of that, well, it was an added bonus thrill!

Detailed, but brilliant (genius??)

Well told story of Einstein's evolution as a scientist and human being. The trade offs in life for your career choices. Echos of 2024 rise of fascism in the world.

Truly an amazing and compelling story. Learn more about this brilliant man.

I so enjoyed knowing more about this brilliant man. Nice to know he was human and had foibles and shortcomings. But yet was so brilliant not only in the realm of science, but had a good understanding of the politics and depravity of the world he lived in and he also wanted to do the right and honorable thing. He tried to make his life work in the disparate situation of his country and got out when he knew there was no way he could be safe. This life story unfolds in a riveting and compelling way. It moved along and never got boring. Well done. I loved it.

Captivating

I knew mostly about his scientific endeavors but this looked into his personal life. Fascinating to correlate the two.
