Imagine you’re at the gas station, ready to pump gas into your vehicle, key in hand - you follow the directions (though why a basic lock needs directions I don’t know) - you try and try but you can’t unlock the darn thing. You eventually give up and decide to break into your own gas tank - cue music for oceans 14 - you take a screw driver and jimmy the lock in 30 seconds flat. So you quickly learn, if someone wanted to steal your gas they could have done it anyway and you’re the idiot covered in grease on your way to work … oh it’s lockable … it’s also easily removed by a thief (or anyone really) just not with the key that’s meant to open it - I don’t like leaving negative reviews but this darned item cost me more in grief than it did in $ - not even worth chasing for a refund.

Everyone in my family has a gas cap on their vehicle. The neighborhood and jobs in Michigan is not exactly on great Street in avenues and Boulevard. If they can’t steal your vehicle, they’ll steal the parts off the car in your gas. This is one thing to have on your car at least you can keep the gas in your car.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:This cap for worked fine in till it didn't. I pulled up to the pump and turn the key to unlock the cap and the key turned just fine but the interlock would not release to open up the tank. I messed with it for about ten minutes before I got pissed off and ripped it off with a pair of vise grips.. Got it March 13 2025 and died June 20 2025 The return time is over, so I am out money on this.

This gas cap fits my 4Runner and no check engine light like the one I need return to auto part storeSeems to be good quality and key opens the lock smoothly. I will add graphite powder so lockworks well in freezing weather. Peace of mind nobody can mess with my gas tank out of spite

This product will leave you stranded at the gas station. The locking and unlock mechanism will become bad and you will be able to lock it but can not unlock it to turn your cap out. The key will turn to the unlock position but when you turn it, it will click on you.. I bought this for a week and the 2nd time I when to pump gas it let me stranded at the gas station. My fuel was at E too. With many tried the mechanism finally work again and I finally was able to get it to turn without clicking. I thought it was just my luck that day and so I try to give it another shot but still the last pump went I still got stranded looking like a theft. So when I finally got it off I returned to my old original fuel cap from the dealer. No lock but no stranded. Beware. You could be left worse than me. Don't know if it was a bad built or bad product.

Second unit is better with keys but im probably going to replace this cap as well
