Good Performance
Aside from the fact that the speaker took more than a week for delivery, it is in excellent condition and working fine. It is good as new, and the sound is on point.

Very happy with this "Renewed" purchase
I purchased my renewed harman kardon onyx 8 for $149. I thought this was a steal since the original price was around $400 but after some late research, I found you can pick up a new one for around $180 - $200.Despite the price drop on brand new, I still saved about $50 and as far as I can tell, this thing is barely used. It appears from the box and all contents inside, someone bought it, tried it out, and either had buyers remorse, or thought it should be better for what they paid. The package arrived in a harman kardon box sealed but you could tell that it had once been opened. Product inside was wrapped in a cover to protect it during shipping, and the cardboard holders that keep the speaker stable, contained instruction book, warranty registration info, and the power cord, all like it was freshly packaged and unused. Had this not said renewed when I bought it, I wouldn't have picked up on any of these slight hints of it being used (instruction book had miniscule bend, black shipping box had white creases suggesting it had once been opened.)For about $150 this speaker is awesome! It blows my Bose sound link from 6 years ago out of the water. Although it is much much bigger, this is the system I've been missing since the days of mini shelf systems with miles of speaker wires and cassette decks and cd changers.I feel the bass is punchy, almost too much. I had to go into my settings for my music service and adjust the equalizer a bit. The sounds are clear, and at only 50% volume, it has room filling sound. It comes with a robust long power cord and it is reported that it will run on battery power for 4 to 6 hours. This will be varied based on listening volume, the higher you play it, the more power it consumes.Whether you choose to buy renewed or purchase a brand new unit, this speaker will not disappoint for most applications. So let me clear the last comment up. This will not work for you if you want something extremely portable. This thing is about as big as a regulation size basketball. So where my Bose sound link could sit in small narrow places, I will have to rethink where I set this. Also, it doesn't appear to be resistant to water (so probably not good close to pool or hot tub - like closer than 5-10ft is probably not a good idea) and the sand from the beach will probably ruin this speaker. Those are my only negatives.

Didn't stay Connected, powered off and the volume didn't feel loud enough ...
Two years ago, I bought a Harman Kardon Studio 6 portable speaker. I kept upgrading because the sound quality was unmatched. I bought it on sale and kept it in my closet for future use. I pulled the portable speakers out to use at a volleyball gym background music. I found out the speakers MUST be re-charged every two or three months or it will not work. I tried to get the speaker going but it did not work. I immediately went online and found this upgraded speaker HK Onyx Studio 8 with 150 watts compared to 50. The issue was I charged the new speakers and the volume was similar to the 50 watt - I expected more bang for my bucks. These are not cheap speakers. Once charged the speakers kept getting disconnected. The people listening complained after the sound kept going off and the speakers turned off. I decided to charge the speakers overnight, thinking this should resolve the issue but it did not. Same issue :( Now I am nervous about purchasing a refurbished / renewed speaker again.

Great sound quality
The bass is a little boomier than the Onyx 2 which after a long number of years finally gave it up.I like the integrated power supply it takes 120vac right into the unit and has a charging light. Sound quality of nice but the old onyx 2 to me sounds smoother and more balanced. The bass seems to me too Bose like. But its sound will please nearly anyone
