Product Description Elvis Presley is at his dreamboat peak in this musical comedy that finds the sexy star crooning five original songs in an "amusing and fast-paced" (Variety) romp boasting a "delightful mixture of songs, romance, humor and good old homespun warmth" (Citizen-News)! When his scheming pop decides to "homestead" the family on a public beach, Toby Kwimper (Presley) digs the exotic setting but hates the attention he is suddenly receiving. Though he just wants to play his guitar, Toby finds himself up to his baby blues in trouble with government bureaucrats, crime bosses and even two smitten "kittens" an adopted little sister who feels more than sisterly love for him and a social worker with more than his welfare on her mind! .com Elvis hadn't dyed his hair a permanent midnight black yet in Follow That Dream, which is another way of saying this is still the point in his career when he was making movies, not just Elvis Presley vehicles. Elvis road-trips with his crabby, anti-government pop (Arthur O'Connell) and an adopted brood to a Florida beach, which by a legal quirk they can homestead. The authorities and some fairly unbelievable gangsters would like to stop them. The songs are undistinguished but not awful, the scenery is nice, and Elvis--looking well-fed and relaxed--shows off good comedic chops doing a dumb-guy shtick. Screenwriter Charles Lederer and director Gordon Douglas are a class act by Presley picture standards, keeping the sitcom-style plot moving along. No fancy clothes or cars in this one, just Elvis and some beachcombing and an old git-tar, and not a bad time-killer for all that. --Robert Horton

Follow My Dream
One might say, “Another Elvis movie?” Yet if one purchases this DVD, they will be investing into a great Elvis movie. While he sings, what is wrong with that, every Elvis fan loves a song or two during the movie. This movie has a great plot, with several actors/actresses pulling their own weight and holding their own when sharing the screen with Elvis. This movie has a lot of meaning in it, one cannot help enjoy the true love of the twins, the grandpa, the baby and the young girl who becomes a fine young lady by the end of this movie. And Elvis? He is fantastic, entertaining, grand performance from start to end.

So cute
This is a cute movie. Actually in 2013 seems like a fantasy. Land in Florida undeveloped? But this party of 5 find it by accident and get to claim it. Elvis has two beautiful songs in it - Follow that Dream which is dreamy to watch him singing it laying in the sand. And "Angel" - if anyone can sing that pretty you better get yourself on stage - you are destined for a good future. The father -played by Arthur McConnell, who also was Jimmy Stewart's law side kick in Anatomy of a Murder - is perfect in this role - explaining how he tries to help the govt out with everything it wants to do. lolAnne Helm, the sister type girl in the movie - is fine and not at all silly like other Elvis costars to come. The movie is a mood lifter, an easy time with great color scenery is excellent. Elvis plays honest but adorable. easy to get along with hard to push around and slick without knowing it.But when he sings 'Angel' - who's fooling who. Nice Elvis movie. Proud to have it. Funny and silly. I am a Love Me Tender Jailhouse Rock King Creole Flaming Star type of Elvis movie fan (ok I have Change of Habit).

Elvis at His Best
My Uncle took my brothers, sisters, and me to the drive-in at Hood Canal during the first showing of this movie. It was a very memorable and awesomely fun experience for a young kid. A different time, an innocent time, and it was just as much fun watching Elvis and listening to "Follow That Dream" song again, some 60 plus years later.

Elvis can act when given the chance
I agree with other reviewers that Elvis can act if given a chance. He did a great job in this movie, even though it was kind of cheesy. I really liked his genuine southern accent, which he hasn't been able to use in most of his movies (I am originally from the South, and I can tell when an accent is genuine:)The only thing that I didn't really like was several of the songs that he sang were obviously done offsite. There was huge orchestration. which one little ol' guitar can not make, plus Elvis delivering an echoing rendition. I would prefer he just sing without all the extras.I like it when Elvis is allowed to act; I'm not sure what Colonel Parker's motives were, but Elvis should have been allowed to ACT, not just put out movie after movie without substance. He did a good job in Flaming Star, too, but I enjoyed this one a little more.

Very funny and highly entertaining
It seems difficult to find any movie or TV show that is truly funny and entertaining without having some very negative behavior presented. This movie was very entertaining and fun to watch Elvis in a fun role!

For my Crystal River Guests
I live in the area that this was filmed in. I sometimes show them this film and then we spend a day going to some of the filming locations and enjoying some. Food and drink along the way. Film is not of Academy award quality but a humorous insight into what entertained us in the early 60’s.
