Good piece of kit -but

This is fine above my bedroom door. A little fiddly to get the correct fit by screwing the ends in opposite directions. Just make absolutely sure (as I failed to do!) that the bar is screwed in as tightly as you can do it, or - the consequences could be very unpleasant. I didn't use the fixing plates but it seems fine now. Make sure also that you check tightness every time you use it as - depending which side of the door you are on- it can get loose. For the price, this is well made and good value, with comfortable thick grips. Not as good as my German bar as with that you can use variable grips, and it's a little higher and more secure, but that's not so convenient as the door can't be shut when it's up. Recommended.

Good, sturdy and easy to install.

Fits in my doorframe without too much hassle and it seems sturdy enough for frequent use. I would recommend if you're ~70kg or below. I would not recommend using it on the doorframe if you're heavier.

Use different screws!

The screws aren’t great, they’re made of soft metal. One of mine shredded so use better quality ones. Other that that this is great

Great Product

I'm a 6'2" bloke who weighs in around 96kg and I've been able to use this product without smacking my head into a door frame or slamming my knees into the floor. Fitting it was easy (although I'd recommend getting some better quality screws if you're going to use the fixings) and it feels comfortingly solid and secure (although there's plenty of evidence on YouTube of people rushing the set-up and injuring themselves so go careful). This is a great product. All I have to do now is build up the upper-body strength to actually do a chin-up (that will take time, but after two days of hanging while making weird grunting noises, I can already feel the very beginnings of some very slight improvement - give me a few months and I'll be able to stand in for The Rock if he ever happens to get a role as a fat British guy).

Each time she grabbed the bar it would twist a little

The media could not be loaded. Its a chinup bar - what could go wrong! I've had chinup bars all my life, my son has one in his doorway and now my daughter wanted one because he doesn't like her using his all the time...On the face of it this is exactly what i needed, it has the usual screw in door cups to securely hold the bar in place without any fear of the bar falling. It is very adjustable to fit most doorways, and it even has some nice padded grips.Installation was quick and easy as usual - just pop a few screws in each pressure plate/cup thingy and then screw the bar out until it firmly pushes into each side. The grips were soon removed - too bulky for my daughter. No problem, just cut them off. There is an annoying screw in the middle of the bar... the instructions make no mention of it at all (i.e. it has no purpose to the user), but there it is, sticking out getting in the way if you want to sue the middle of the bar. Not a major issue, but annoying, my other bars don't have this. After a few days I saw my daughter using the other bar again - why? Each time she grabbed the bar it would twist a little. I tightened everything up as much as possible, but it persisted. Annoyed - I decided to take it apart to see what the issue might be, this is where we find out what that screw was for! The bar is actually made of three main sections (my others are just two), a central bar (the one with the screw in) and two narrower bars which glide along a long internal screw. So when you expand this bar you get equal expansion on both sides allowing the central thicker bar to stay centered. A neat idea really. The problem is that the thicker bar is secured onto the threaded internal bar by that screw.... the screw enters into a small cylinder which sits permanently attached to the screw bar (see photo). The poor manufacturing means that the tolerances are really bad and this attachment has a lot of play in it which you cannot stop. (see video). I am about to fill the area with epoxy glue to see if that can fix the bar, unfortunately it will still have the screw in place even if this does work.In summary - if you are only going to use this for simple chin-ups, then it will do the job. If you plan to use any other part of the bar other than where the padded grips are, and like to use any dynamic movement then you might want to choose something else. For me, the build quality can't be ignored, a recessed central screw could have been used and the tolerances shouldn't be so shoddy.

Quality of product

This is actually a decent product which my children have enjoyed for just over a year. However the build of it has let me down as the screw has slipped off/broken.Would have hoped for a longer lasting bar.Unsure if I can replace the middle screw.

Sturdy pull up bar

After reading comments and looking online I was a bit iffy about purchasing one of these but I've been tempted for so long, I convinced myself to do it as it really isn't much money to invest in myself and I can always keep it for another place I move into that might have stronger door frames, luckily enough I found setting it up to be a breeze, I'm 15 stone and never really done pull ups before but I found that standing on something under me at first and lowering myself down gave me a way to ease my body into using the same range of muscles, the next day I was doing 1 pull up at a time, I don't use it as much as I could or should but I can do 6 full pull ups in a row now, for 20 quid or so Id say its a good investment, I think its good for my back too, I reckon I have overall less backpain with moderate use of this bar
