Vital Essentials Freeze Dried Cat Food, Rabbit Mini Nibs 12 oz

The food is good quality and my cats enjoy the taste. Their poops have not been horrendous since switching to this food either. A lot of complaints about bones and stuff in the reviews but that's with all freeze dry raw. Some advice: You need to make sure you are rehydrating with WARM water, bone broth, goats milk or somethingof the sorts! It makes them easier to chew.

Several years ago I switched my 7 cats from dry "Cat Crack" to homemade raw food. There was some furry mistrust and opposition in the ranks to this move. Some immediately loved the raw and had the "How's come you didn't give this to us before?" look on their faces. Others, had a look of panic "OMG!! Where's my Cat Crack?" Recently, my integrative vet suggested I might see if the girls would enjoy the product. Those who missed the "Cat Crack" the most appreciated the addition of the dry crunchies, preferring to eat the crunchies first, then the raw. The purists who really enjoy their raw, will eat a few crunchies as they eat their raw. They all will enjoy a crunchie or two as a treat between meals. I do not feed this as their entire meal, rather as an adjunct to the meal. My youngest cat is 10, the oldest 20.

Our cats go crazy for these nibs in all of their flavors. We use these as treats and for motivation in training. I love that I can give them a treat that is nutritious and an extension of their raw-fed diet. The fact that we only use these for treats makes the price more reasonable.A friend of mine bought these after I gave her a sample, and her cats go crazy for them too. She called it "kitty caviar".

These are too hard now. Make sure your pet is able to chew them properly. They used to be softer and easy to crumble. My older cat only has a few of his teeth. He used to be able to chew these, but now struggles a bit and swallows them whole. So now I put a batch into the blender and make it into crumbles. I use it as a topper for wet food and all my cats love it. If using alone, at least add water! Wish they would go back to the older, less hard formula.

The only negative thing I can say about this food is that it is very hard. I’ve purchased raw and freeze dried for my cats every now and then in the past and I have never come across a food that is so hard. My cats did like it so that’s a plus. I had to take some of the bits and crush them then sprinkle on the food. I don’t recommend it if you have a cat that is old or wouldn’t be able to chew through these rocks. I’ll keep crushing and feeding my cats until the bag is finished but I probably wont buy again.

i use these as training treats for both the cat and the dog. For the cat I do try to break them into smaller pieces which isn't super easy but the does love them! I would just say to wash your hands after handling them since they are a raw product.

Our cat loves Vital Essentials Chicken Dinner Patties, so I thought I would give their Chicken Mini Nibs a try and was sorely disappointed. While our cats loved the smell and went right to it, once they tried to eat it, they couldn't chew it and spit it right out. I took a larger piece out of the bag and broke it in half, with a bit of effort I might add, which is when I realized why they couldn't eat the nibs. They were hard as a rock! Even adding some water didn't help. I found it hard to believe that the same company that made another product that the cats love could make these inedible pellets.Thinking that perhaps this 'batch' was an anomaly, especially since it cost $25 for 12oz. and had been opened and therefore couldn't be returned, I used the link provided by Amazon to contact the manufacturer to express my dissatisfaction and request a replacement or refund. This was only 2 days ago, and being in the middle of the holidays, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope to get a response from them within the next week or so. I will update this review either way.UPDATE: It has now been over two weeks since contacting the manufacturer and I have yet to receive a reply from them. A bad product coupled with bad customer service means a lost customer in my case. Evidently a $25 sale is more important than a satisfied, potentially long-term, customer. That speaks volumes about this company's priorities and ethics - profit over people. I pray that my experience may just be a one-off and that I'm wrong about their corporate culture, but until I hear otherwise from them, I will no longer purchase, nor can I recommend, ANY Vital Essentials pet products going forward.

No matter what recommendations I followed for my cat's sensitive stomach, she was throwing up nearly every other day. Then, a friend recommended freeze dried food. I did a lot of research into quality and cost per ounce and Vital Cat came out on top. It took a little bit of time to adjust to a new food, but my cat now loves it and hasn't thrown up since the changeover. A game changer for both of us!
