I live in a high rise condo on Miami Beach. So the salt air is hard on just about everything. It was time toreplace the hardware on my sliding balcony door. The condo is about 35 years old and it was obvious the door pull/latch had previously been replaced/repaired. The local sliding door company wanted almost 250 bucks to replace the latch. Found this latch on Amazon and all the measurements/pictures matched up with what currently was on the door. With a few exceptions, this went right on. I had to do a little grinding with the Dremel tool since the previous person who serviced the door boogered up some of the fitting surfaces. The kit comes with two sets of mounting bolts (short and long). My door needed medium. So I had to trim the long bolts with the Dremel tool. After these few little alterations and the latch fit like a glove. The latch mechanism was tight and worked smoothly. Well worth the price. No complaints. It comes with a keyed outside locking mechanism but I didn't need it (30th floor balcony), so I can't comment on that piece.

Fit my basic sliding glass door. Latch is plastic, will be ok if used correctly but not likely to last in the rental property. Not sure I would buy again if I could find a better option.

The original lock was missing its key, so I had to replace the whole lock. It turns out this part is pretty much a drop-in piece. The only modification I had to do was to the door itself, which needed a larger hole to be filed to accommodate the wider “keeper”, I.e. the part that screws onto the frame. I also re-used the old latch piece that connects to the keeper to lock the door. Several latch pieces are provided by the way.

Works well on older sliders. EAs to install.

I was looking forward to getting this to replace a older non functioning one. I ordered and it got here pretty quickly, when I started to install it the piece where the hook is attached broke, leaving me without a hook. I had to order a second one and that one lasted for a bit until someone in the house forgot to unlock it, gave it a rather weak pull and the plastic piece where the hook locks into snapped. Overall quite the weak materials. The key assembly was also rather wobbly on both of them.

The Prime-Line C 1033 Diecast Keyed Patio Sliding Door Lock is a complete waste of money. The lock feels cheap and flimsy, and the installation process was a nightmare. The instructions are poorly written and unclear, making it difficult to attach properly to my sliding door.Once installed, the lock barely functioned. The key mechanism sticks, making it frustrating to lock and unlock, and the lock itself feels like it could be forced open with minimal effort. This product does not provide the security it promises and left me feeling uneasy about the safety of my home.Additionally, the diecast material is of poor quality and began to show signs of wear and rust within a couple of weeks. I would not trust this lock to secure anything. Do yourself a favor and invest in a higher-quality patio door lock—it’s worth the extra money for peace of mind.
