Great Bazaar Swad Split Peas, Yellow, 4 Pound

I've gotten these twice, so far, and they have arrived in excellent shape. I use them to make yellow split pea soup, and yellow split curry. I used to get split peas from the bulk section of a local store. The store went out of business, forcing me to find alternate supplier. It was kind of a happy accident, as these plit peas have been of a better quality than what I was getting locally. I try to always have some on hand, now.

Peas make great soup. Reasonable cost. Will purchase more when all the peas have been utilized for their intended purpose.

Look just what I want to make "steepy" pees. But haven't made them yet.

Quality peas, great for soups that cooked all day!

It has taken awhile for me to write this review. I am sooo very sorry I bought 2 bags. One just the same as the next. They would NOT cook. The first soup/batch I followed regular directions, soaked overnite then added to the ham pot and simmered all day. Time for dinner - harder than a rock. Threw all of it away. Tried again a few weeks later, I tried to fix the problem. I rinsed (they were clean), I soaked overnite, I put in new water and brought to a rolling boil, put lid on and let them soak 3 hours. Repeated the rolling boil then added to the soup simmering. Simmered for about 3-4 hours. Those freakin peas were hard. If you drop one it sounds like rock. I Ninja'd them and rewarmed the soup, grit and horrible. I usually do not write bad reviews for taste, but this, this was a sin. I am sorry I purchased them.

I used these peas to make fava. The santirini style hummusRegular American yellow split peas do not have the same silkiness or flavor. This turned out great

Its what we buy all the time when we can get to Chicago.

The headline tells it all. Cannot expect better yellow split peas.
