TamBee Heavy Duty Pivot Door Hardware - Hidden Door Hinge Kit for Secret Bookshelf Door

The media could not be loaded. Great pivot hinge for my "hidden" door to my wine cellar. Easy to install, no need to drill deep holes like for the heavier duty versions of this.

Several years ago installed this on a heavy door that seldon gets used. Seems like it should last for years with the ball bearing it all rides on. Currently installing on a light-weight door that will get much more use. So, yes, I did buy it again…

The product seems to work well. I used it for a pivot hindge on a stand mirror. They were very lose and easy swing. If that's not what you want you can tighten it up with a rubber gasket. Screws did not strip easily, a big plus.

If your door is flush you will have to either shave your door by the thickness of all four pieces or carve the hardware i to the door and/or the floor and door jamb on so that the door can close. Obviously my door was closing before but with these pieces protruding i now have a challenge and labor at hand. Installation will be a challenge regardless. You’ll have to put in the door with the hardware on. Once it fits you open the door 45 degrees to fasten the bottom to floor and top to door jamb pieces. Screws are flimsy. No instructions, not even drill bit size guidelines. Based on that i give three stars.

The media could not be loaded. Strong construction ball bearing, I'm impressed with this quality. If your looking to make something that rotates; id give this hinge a spin. I used for a side fence gate it's so cool. I got more ideas for these hinges too lol.

It's taken forever to get around to writing this review, simply because I have been waiting to install a hidden door upstairs after renovations were finished. I guess I prematurely picked this up, since it's been about 4 months sitting upstairs waiting to be installed. Instead of a regular attic door, we instead installed a small bookshelf that opens using this hinge. Overall the hinge works well, it's super well made, I was extremely impressed with how heavy duty it was. But unless you have a lot of woodworking tools at your disposal, and the know-how to use those tools, this may be a difficult install. Just make sure that you've watched plenty of videos on how to build a suitable door substitute and plenty of videos on how these are installed into those doors. Otherwise it's extremely easy to mess it up. It's unlikely that you'll mess up your hinge, but you could very easily mess up your door substitute ( whether that be a shelf, or some other " door ")
