Well that was worthwhile!
Well that was a worthwhile purchase! We are plagued with "cluster flies" every autumn as they come into our loft to hibernate for the winter. In previous years we culled them with smoke bombs but the problem was they dies and fell into the insulation and couldn't be hoovered up to be disposed. Loft insulation looks like an eccles cake now! Loft became a no go zone for my wife.Bought this two weeks ago and plugged it in with a smart plug to come on 1 hour after sunrise and off 1 hour before sunset to coincide with the time the flies are active and flying around. It also meant we wouldn't be kept awake by intermittent zaps in the loft. As others suggested I spread a light plastic sheet under the fraxinus Fly and Insect Killer to catch the flying carcasses! See the first photo.1st day - we heard no zaps - nothing at all! and the loft was hiving with flies. Most disappointed and thought I'm going to have to return this thing. Thought I let it run for a week to see and when I went up to check and was greeted with the sheet covered in dead flies [photo 2] and I took a close up of the Fraxinus Fly and Insect Killer. It was thick with the carcasses of many many flies. As I was cleaning up the plastic sheet and emptying the catch tray [cant see my wife ever doing this!] a fly flew into the grill and it buzzed gently with lightning zapping though it. I tried unsuccessfully to get a video to demonstrate. There were too few flies left to fly into the thing! The gentle buzzing made us think it wasn't working as we couldn't hear it in the bedrooms. Can I recommend the Fraxinus Fly and Insect Killer - absolutely - it kills flies at a tremendous rate and has solved our cluster fly problem. It does leave a degree of carnage to clear up but thats a small price to pay for a loft clear of the pests. We wont need to take our xmas tree outside to shake the flies out of it before putting it up this year!!Cracking!

Perfect solution for fly/gnat issues.
I have many indoor plant, which unfortunately sometimes, gives a gnat issue, this summer seems to be summer of gnats. I needed something robust to add to my numerous solutions. Within five minutes I heard it getting to work zapping the little intruders. Very sturdy unit and does the job. Thank you.

High Quality
I bought this fly killer for my newly updated restaurant. While summer was there a few months ago, I needed something that could brighten and make my restaurant free from flies who were attracted to lights in the night and therefore would come visit my restaurant.I wanted something professional but cheap and this one kinda appealed to me on Amazon. I realised that picture quality as advertised on the Amazon page was not the best.It was still worth the try for me. Firstly, i must highlight that for the price i have paid, the quality of this Zapper is more than expected. The Blue tubes are bigger than usual, this gives off more light than usual when compared to other similar priced zappers which were cheaper but not as good as this one. With these big tubes the small flies and moths were also picked up at night because the blue lights were bigger than usual. The Zapper was easy to set and pretty self-explanatory to use, however, i would say that if you want there is a manual to make it easier to open. The zapper is also designed well allowing you to remove the dead wasps quite smoothly, infact for me compared to the other zappers in the restaurant it is more easier to use. There is a sliding removable tray at the bottom to make it easier, not all zappers have this quality. If you have something like this which is around 2800 Volts in power, you will not need to use any chemicals as such and depending on the size of the venue and structure, you may choose to buy two to ensure all areas are covered. If you're not sure you may choose to keep this as a stand or even hang it as shown in the picture, You may also wish to use this at home as you could have areas with flies coming often especially if you keep windows or doors open at night, this could be the right solution but for me, i personally would not use this in the house. However, the flexibility is there.I hope this review was helpful for the Amazon community.

Kills fat green bottle flies!
Oh man. I’ve been dealing with a green bottle fly invasion in my home. Haven’t been able to find the source but it’s driving me insane as every few hours a few appear. Tired of chasing them with Raid spray and a vacuum, I ordered this zapper. I left it on in the entrance hallway all night (it’s actually a pleasant violet light), and it has killed over 20 already. I didn’t even know there were that many as I when I look around I see maybe 2/3 at a time. It’s quite strong, I can smell them burning (they’re massive). Some get stunned and fall to the bottom tray, and when they try to escape the bars around them finish them off as they’re also electrified. It is loud when they get zapped, but the psychopath in me and my lust for revenge makes the sound of their death music to my ears. I’m so pleased. Hoping this will end their bloodline.Update: it has since killed over 200. I didn’t even know there was this many!!!!

Doesn't kill house flies near Filey.
After returning one fly killer I read extensively before buying this one. After reading reviews from verified purchasers I decided this device should do the job. I put it at the advised height - approx 2m, at 90 deg to the nearest light source. After leaving it on for 24hrs, one fly killed. I tried some bait - a smear of dog food, split grapes, small piece of apple and a small squirt of golden syrup. Another 24hrs later and one fly killed. Flies were not attracted to it by the light tubes. In fact more attracted to food and a blue light from a gas boiler. The fly papers I bought previously, also from Amazon - 5 for £2.30, killed 25 flies in 24hrs. It should be noted that, according to what I have read, not all types of flies are attracted to the light emitted from such devices.
