Warm as or warmer than a GI poncho liner?
size of snugpak jungle blanket?
How does this compare to the venerable USGI "woobie" poncho liner? It packs smaller, but is it warmer?

Super Compact Lightweight Warmer Weather Alternative

Basically a super comfy space blanket. You wrap it around yourself and can immediately feel your heat reflecting back at you. Just to be clear, this does not replace a sleeping bag in even moderately cold weather. I had to use it in a pinch out in the New Mexico desert on a night that dipped down to 19 degrees, I would not want to do that again. But no big surprise because that’s not what it’s designed for. During the spring, summer and early fall I love going out for a couple of days at a time on my bike, this blanket, a lightweight hammock (with bug net) and a tarp is my favorite ultralight fair weather gear. It’s not water proof, but water does bead up on the outer side and it dries super fast. It’s pretty durable. Packs up small enough that it spends all winter in my backpack. I’ve lost count of how many times it’s come in handy when a train or bus is running late. It also makes a great sleeping bag liner. Turns a 3 season bag into something that can get you through “non arctic” winter nights.

Quality blanket/quilt. loads of uses.

This is a great blanket for the price. I have several and have made both under-quilts and top-quilts for my hammock with minimal sewing effort. These compress down really small and easily fit back in the compression bag. I'd be curious to know what the insulation is, but from what I can gather, it is a higher tech synthetic insulation that would continue to provide good insulation even when wet.As top quilt I am amazed at how lightweight this is, and yet how warm it keeps you. You can barely even feel any weight on top of you. It's generously sized to perform a versatile number of functions.I've heard complaints from other reviewers on Snugpak products now that they are made in China, versus the UK, but I have seen nothing to evidence that the stitching or materials are suddenly sub-par as result of this. The price has dropped significantly though and that's why I bought this in the first place. (I think the China-haters don't really bring much subjectivity to the table anyway, because they've turned it into a political issue anyway...)I also have a Snugpak top quilt, which is beefier but sleeps a bit too warm for me. I'll save that for colder temps when it justifies the extra size bulk that it adds.

Exceptional camping blanket

Very lightweight and resistant to all sorts of things from dampness to bacteria. Warm for it's weight. This is my ho to summer camping blanket and hammock top quilt when the night time temperatures are above 50..

Quality warm weather blanket

Very happy with this blanket. Could be slightly larger but the quality is there. Surprisingly warm for how thin it is. Highly recommended purchase

Move over woobie! There's a new blanket in town! :)

Wow! After using a poncho liner/woobie for over 12 years for camping / hammocking and at work (I'm away from home for 21 days at a time), I can honestly say the Snugpak Jungle Blanket is by far my new favorite. Purchased this item and 2 days later it's at my door.Upon opening, it's contained in a very nice and well built compression bag/stuff sack, also OD green. I immediately noticed the weight and bulk were considerably less than even my woobie when packed into a space saver vacuum bag, which works great and saves space in my travel bags. Without compressing Snugpak down, it's half again the size of the compressed woobie, and can be compressed even further. I will only be doing that when necessary to prolong the life of the lofting material inside. After using it for over a week now, in 65 deg sleeping quarters, it retains body heat and seems to warm up faster than the Rothco poncho liner I'd been using . Haven't had it in the weather yet, although I plan on a hammock camping trip once it cools down a bit and will report back on it's outdoor performance. A factor in my purchase was other reviews that mentions one side is water repellent however as mentions, I cannot verify at this time.Only improvement I'd make to Snugpak is to make it a few inches longer (80"?) as I'm 6'2" and it'd be great to be able to wrap up a little more in it. Even as is, I highly recommend this item and will likely purchase another to keep in my other vehicle as a backup.

Warm enough down to 36 with a little help from my wife!

Major pluses are the price, and the weight, and the fact that this blanket can keep you warm enough down to about 40-45 degrees. As long as you have sensible clothes and socks on, and you are sleeping on an insulated pad, you'll be warm. Add another warm body and you can take it down further. My wife and I shared it this past weekend. We were warm enough down to about 36 degrees. Each of us had layers and socks on. when it dipped below 36, we added a layer (wool blanket) mostly for the weight.the biggest complaint here was the size. It's not designed for two people, but we're both normal/small size. we wished that we had a few more inches on each side because the cold snuck under the top and sides a little.I modified this blanket. I added a foot-box by installing four sets of snaps to fold over one foot (12 inches) at the foot end of this blanket. I also added a shock-cord by poking holes in the bottom corners and running a cord through. These mods made it so that our feet were super warm and no drafts came in from below.Personally my biggest complaint was that, once this was done, I felt a draft come in from the top because the blanket wasn't quite long enough to pull over my face and head without bending my knees. We will continue to use it, and I'm confident that over about 40 degrees, we'll be comfortable. This blanket/quilt is GREAT! For the price and capability, it is well worth it!I've got another one in my cart right now!
