GREAT PRODUCT TO PRICE RATIO
I replaced my old Optoma projector. After many years, it finally stopped working even after the gentle bump here and there. I replaced it with this unit and I am very satisfied with the quality of the image. It is brighter than the old one and handles 4K. Compared with other projectors that may cost 2 or 3 times more, it delivers! For the price of the other projectors, I can buy one for my movie room and one for my garage. Smart!

Bright as HELL
Everything is great, with one common objection. Very limited zoom. Expect a need to move the projector to fill the screen, zoom alone won't do it. The first time we used it for a broadcast Packer game, the image was very good, assuming it's dark outside. Inside with smaller screens room light on will still give a good image. Videos with motion images are clear. The inside speaker is not up to NFL standards, but we used a TV turner box and ran the audio through a speaker bar. In the picture, the far screen is about 17 feet wide in the center of the driveway.

it said full 3d but when i checked for the 3d there was none. not that bright and the screen from 12 feet only got like60 to 70 inches.

Good picture but firmware needs work (Jan 2025 - firmware workaround found)
The color spectrum at factory settings is WAY too blue. It took considerable fiddling to get the color right, but once that happened the picture looked very nice. The firmware needs to be upgraded to fix one major problem. During dimly lit scenes the picture toggles between dark mode and light mode. I think this is some sort of auto adjustment, but it doesn't work, and there is no way to turn it off (I tried everything). The light mode actually looks better for bright and dark scenes, and that seems to be the default setting. Optoma needs to remove that "feature" altogether because it's annoying as hell.1-2025 Update - I finally figured out how to get the dark/light mode to stop toggling. I turned Eco Mode ON and Dynamic Black OFF. I also increased the brightness and contrast to compensate for Eco. It no longer toggles, and the picture is bright. As has been noted in other reviews, the blue spectrum needs to be turned down (I run -12). I run in Sport mode also. Standard temperature. RGB 0-256. Colors are very good now.

Best laser projector under $1000!
I have purchased a variety of projectors over the last decade. DLP, LCD, every type of display and lumens etc. after reading the reviews, I realized this unit had no complaints similar to any of my previous units. If you want the best picture, flexible mounting options and don’t care about having frills like AI auto focus and keystone correction etc., I doubt you’ll find anything near this good for under $1000.00. Nothing but Laser for me now! Buy it!

It's not just plug-in play
I purchased two Optima projectors: one short throw and one regular that sits at the back of the room. I like both and think they perform well. However, if you’re not willing to spend time on setup or aren’t comfortable with the process, I wouldn't recommend buying them, as setup can be complex and labor-intensive. For example, the regular projector initially produced a very dark image, making it hard to see anything. I almost returned it, but after trying various configurations, I found a small setup dial that I need to adjust each time I turn on the computer, because it doesn’t remember the setting. Even though I can save settings on the computer, I have to reset the projector each time to increase brightness enough to see the screen. It's not a huge issue, and everything works fine, but it's a bit annoying to go through this every time. If you’re experienced with setup and understand the process, you'll likely enjoy figuring it out.
