Clear audio without the faff
Pleasantly surprised by this little mic. Plugged the receiver into my phone, turned on the seperate mic and was recording within seconds. No fiddly pairing, no extra apps, just works. The sound quality is extremely good for something this size. Voices come through clearly and without any of that odd echo you sometimes get with cheaper gear. It also handles background noise fairly well, so you are not left editing out wind and passing traffic for hours.Range is better than expected. I wandered a good few metres away from the camera and it still picked up clean audio without any dropouts.Feels well made and the whole thing fits neatly into a bag or pocket. Ideal for vlogging, quick interviews or just getting better audio than your phone’s built in mic can manage. If you want something simple, portable and reliable, this is a good choice. No drama, no fuss, just does what it is meant to do.

Pixel 7a Camera App - insure pick wired mic from video settings
Lovely bit of kit. 2 tips 1) green is noise cancelling on - don't use if can avoid so steady blue with disabled best 2) my android pixel 7a using default camera app using internal microphone by default. And keeps defaulting to it. Go into camera app ( once device attached and all blue lights ) . Pick video, pick cogwheel for video settings and on microphone ensure set to 'wired mic' .Very annoying and Andoird/Google Pixel issue not device.

Too easy to lose. No way of securing it
Absolute waste of money. The clip is small and weak and the mic falls off repeatedly. Also there is no way of tethering the dongle which goes into your phone, or the microphone itself. There are no proper instructions. The sound quality is ok but is of no use if it fell off three miles ago! I’d give it no stars if possible. I’d share a photo if I still had it, but it dropped off on a hill walk!

Problem when using with DJI equipment
This is a pretty good mic system for the price and the audio quality is good, although not broadcast quality, as you might expect. The biggest disappointment was that although the receiver works perfectly when plugged into the USB C port of my Android phone, or when connected to my PC; when I plug it into the USB C port on my DJI RC2 Drone controller it fails to switch on. The same problem occurs when using a DJI Pocket 2 camera. Whether this is a clever bit of DJI tech to force me to buy an (expensive) DJI mic system, or whether there is some other problem, I don't know. Perhaps someone from Boya can explain?

Exactly what I needed
After I had decided to start making tutorial videos for social media in line with my photography and videography, I needed a wireless mic for that super clean, smooth and crisp audio quality. However, I didn't want to spend a lot of money in case I decided talking to the camera wasn't for me.Before I bought the Boya mics, off to Youtube I went and watched a bunch of reviews and real world testing (Note: I had also come across other brands too whilst scrolling on Amazon and I had also Youtubed those too). The Boya mic ticked all the boxes for me so I went ahead and purchased.I carried out my own testing and what a difference there is when comparing to the iphone mic. The audio is crystal clear! And the noise cancelling feature is also great if out filming and recording whilst walking around or on the street, etc.Just a side note, connecting this will disable the speaker so if you want to listen back to what you've recorded you will have to disconnect the receiver.Pairing the receiver to the transmitter couldn't be simpler. Simply connect the receiver, press the ON/OFF button on the transmitter, and done. That's it.I would definitely recommend Boya products off the back of this and I will be looking at acquiring their desktop XLR mic at some point too!
