Covers the basics. Great for a newbie. Many say, "you can find it on utube", but having it right in front of you so you can take your time is great. Also, you can reference it time and time again until it's committed to memory. You should go slow when learning about any firearm. Slow and steady...safety first. Worth the money. By the way, didn't find a printed version as good anywhere on the internet.Lastly, there is a lot of good information you can get (absorb) on the internet, but for $10.00 this is fantastic.

Wow! This is an awesome must-have reference guide for every 1911 owner whether your new to the platform like myself or an old pro. After watching numerous YouTube videos and trying to make sense of all the variations on the proper cleaning and lubricating techniques offered by this guy or that guy, its nice to have it all right there in front of me. From start to finish, this pocket sized field guide covers it all in easy to understand step-by-step instructions and excellent diagrams that took the guess work out of servicing my 1911. Included in this guide are tools needed, safety first warnings, component names, disassembly, cleaning, lubricating and reassembly instructions, and 1911 tips and advice all printed on easy to clean pages. Only thing I could say needed improving was the dog tag chain that holds it together. The pages get caught up on the little balls when flipping thru it. I replaced mine with a small cable type key chain and problem solved. In conclusion, the Real Avid 1911 Field Guide has earned its weight in both my gun bag and my bug-out bag. Thanks to my girlfriend for finding and buying me this great product.

I purchased this for my wife and daughter. I think it is a cool little break down and instructions guide to the Ruger 10/22 and I wanted them to use this as hands on by themselves. Sometimes when those of us who have firearm knowledge tend to go overboard or too fast and even get too technical sometimes so I thought this would be good for the family to use while I just set back observe and oversee there first break down, clean and reassemble. The Ruger 10/22 is one of the easiest firearms to learn basic shooting, cleaning, breakdown and reassemble. Again, great to have in the newbies gun bag. Youngsters and newbies will enjoy its simplicity and info it provides to keep there Ruger 10/22 functioning smoothly for years to come. There is one downside to this guide, it’s not laminated! You would think that a quick reference field guide would be laminated do to it’s contexts! So if you are new to the Ruger 10/22 and are at your work bench just make sure you keep your hands clean or have a extra pair of hand to flip through the card guide so the will stay clean and dry. I did laminate my purchase and I would recommend the same if you want it to last as long as you firearm. For this I deducted 1 star.⚓️

Excellent for learning, would buy again.

I bought a used Colt 1911 that did not come with a Users Manual. I asked Colt to send a manual, they said...print it off the internet. Rather than do that, I ordered this item. It tells how to breakdown the gun, clean it, and oil it. It identifies all the pieces. Plus there is lot of other useful info in a nice sized and sturdy format.

Great reference for new .45 owners, once I get more familiar with this firearm, I’ll able to be more comfortable with loading , cleaning, unloading ,general maintenance and safe handling, incase I forget a few things down the line , I can refresh and go through those cards for memory.

What’s not to like? A handy, clever, quick reference aid that will keep me honest while keeping my pistol in perfect condition.
