Good price, good quality, good buy!

If you think about it, a SUPER REEF AQUARIUM CHEMICAL REACTOR, is a glorified PVC tube that allows uniform water flow through a chemical filtration media of your choosing.Brands abuse consumers by overpricing anything that says Aquarium or Reef on it.At $37.75 usd, I believe Two Little Fishies priced this product fairly and I would and will recommend it to anyone. It has a good quality and has been running in my sump without any problems.

Best biological filter for its size.

This was one of my first fluidized bed filters and it is excellent. Filled to 4” with sand, supplemented with Nutafin filter supplement and fed by 200 gph of water it started showing changes in water quality after only three days. It is currently permanently running on a 60 gallon African (Malawi) Cichlid tank that now has virtually no ammonia, nitrite or nitrate issues. I urge everyone wanting to use these filters to plan your plumbing to include a good pre-filter on the intake and a ball valve coming off the pump before it inflows the filter. Once set up you will love fluidized filters and want them on al, your aquariums.

He has a 275 gallon salt tank and this gives us an opportunity to share in some pretty nice together time

My son helped set up a 29 gallon salt water reef aquarium for me. He and I have had this special interest since he was a young boy. He has a 275 gallon salt tank and this gives us an opportunity to share in some pretty nice together time. I was having difficulty in keeping the PH level correct and he instructed me to buy this. After we made some minor adjustments for my bio-cube aquarium, I could visually see the difference in my coral within a couple of weeks. I was seeing areas where the coral had died begin to grow again. I would recommend this for any small aquarium.

Works like a champ!

I put together a denitrification reactor to grow anaerobic bacteria to lower my nitrate levels. In order to do that one needs to create an environment that is deficient in oxygen with suitable media for the bacteria to grow in/on. This requires reducing the flow of water to below 50gph.I set up this little system using Seachem De*nitrate, two fishes 150 reactor, a simple fountain pump rated @ 63gph, a dc motor control circuit to adjust the speed of the pump, and a dc power supply. The thing was simple to hook up and is working like a champ!

Keep inside Sump to prevent wet floors

I've owned one of these before and I forgot how flimsy the soft rubber elbows at the top of the lid are. I followed the media instructions and left his hanging off my sump (not inside). Everything seemed to be working fine. I returned home several hours later to wet hardwood flooring. The elbows a the top were sagging, they are not strong enough to hold the hose once the hose is filled with water. Replacing the flooring near the tank would be a huge hassle, so I'm just living with it. I moved the reactor inside my sump, so any leaks are not going to get on my floor.Previously with my older model in my other aquarium, I used a highlighter, that was about 3/4" to an inched in diameter and always placed it under the elbow on the reactor to support the weight of the water. Lesson learned, and I hope this helps others avoid any leaks.

Nice compact reactor

Using this with GFO and carbon on my 29 gallon biocube. Works great! I recommend setting up with all valves to better control the flow. No issues with leaking. Leaking us always caused by over tightening the cap. Just turn until snug and then a slight additional turn (from 1 to 2 o'clock on a clock face) and you are all set. Never had to replace the o ring and I have been using for over 18 months. Easy to clean too! Bye bye phosphates, Hello beautiful reef!

Modified to use as a Purigen reactor

I purchased this to use as a Purigen reactor for fresh water tank. I like the look of the media swirling around the reactor so I wanted to buy one that hangs on the side of the tank. This does not come with a pump or hoses. I had an old Rio Plus 50 pump that works perfect with this reactor. Besides the main part of the reactor it also comes with a couple of right angle fittings and a few zip ties and hose clamps. Unfortunately the instructions do not tell you what goes where. It would seem like it would be simple to figure out but there were odd numbers of each and at least for my configuration there was not enough to tie down all my hoses and fittings. To be safe I added a couple extra ties of my own. This unit does not work particularly well with Purigen. The plastic strainer and the sponge that came with it is much too porous to keep the Purigen media in the unit. Even at a slow flow rate I ended up with a bunch Purigen pellets inside my tank. I am testing out using a piece from an old nylon panty hose as a strainer to keep the media inside the unit. I initially wrapped the sponge with the nylon but still some media escaped. Now I wrapped the plastic strainer with the nylon and it looks like it is working ok. I can even turn the flow rate a little higher to get more flow through the media.

Works perfectly

I purchased this last week to alleviate a diatom problem I picked up after replacing my 75gal tank with a new one. The instructions are easy to follow. The description of the product is clear that you need to buy a power head, however I missed the part about needing tubes. I did have some at home, but when you set it up, I suggest getting tubes that are soft and flexible, as I have a problem with fitting them behind the glass of the lids in the hanging position. As the tubes if not really flexible want to stick straight out.The item is packed well and shipped very fast.
