I know a lot about the history of animation. This box set fills in some amazing history I was only partially aware of. Beautiful transferns and amazing curation.Bravo!

If anyone else is wondering if this will play on a ps4 in the US it will. I took a gamble on it and what do you know it worked! Great collection of Starevich. I’m not sure if ps4 will play all region codes as some info said you only have 4 times to switch your ps4 region before it’s locked forever but this dvd must be a region 0 since my ps4 didn’t ask about switching the region nor have any issues playing it. So this dvd won’t mess with any of that. I wish I saw someone else say this as I would have bought this sooner.

This is a beautiful collection with wonderful music scores newly added to the well-transferred films. Starewitch is one of the greatest animators of all time and these films have not been generally available in good transfers until this collection. The artistry and skill that went into making these films - all done by hand - has never been surpassed.Note: this will play on an inexpensive "region-free" player - about the same cost as a USA-only format player! Definitely worth having considering all the DVDs that are not distributed in the USA.

For anyone interested in the pioneering efforts of early stop motion Starewitcz 's films are the place to start..Brilliant , inventive, and funny. See everything he and his family ever created.

Les 3 films sont superbes, surtout les yeux du dragon avec ses decors et la conception de personages elaborés. "Dans les griffes de l'araignée" s'aggit de son premir film réalisé en france, dans lequel il met en scene des insectes, colorie au pochoir, ce qui donne un effet interesant. Dans "Amour noir et blac" il met en scene des acteurs contemporains, Charlot, mary Pickford ,Tom Mix dans un histoire un peu bizare, c'est trés bien ausi. Il faut surtout remarquer qu'il s'aggit de l'animation stop motion,de marionettes et que tout était conçu, fabriqué,animé image par image par Ladislas Starewitch et sa fille Irene, comme on explique dans un petit documentaire proposé en bonus "Comment nait et s'anime une ciné-marionette" dattant de 1932 ou on les voit au travail dans les films "Le Lion et le Moucheron" et "Le Lion devenu vieux" ("Les Fables de Starewitch, d'aprés La Fontaine"). Un film pour les grands et pour les enfants, surtout si vous aimez l'anmation et surtout si vous aimez les films de Ladislas Starewitch

Pour tous les amoureux de l'animation, quel qu'en soit le support, il est impensable de passer à côté du travail de Ladislas Starewitch, ignoré pendant longtemps, cette sortie en DVD est un moyen (après le festival international de La Rochelle 2010) de prolonger le plaisir de voir et revoir ces fables !

J’espérais trouver une belle édition des petites merveilles de Starewitch, annoncées comme restaurées... Las ! Le noir & blanc est devenu de la couleur ! Et de la pire espèce qui soit, une couleur monochrome sur toute l'image qui change au hasard des différents plans... Bref exaspérant et non respectueux des chefs d’œuvres de l'auteur. Donc à éviter, évidemment.
